Held at Westminster College Bangkok on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, the official launch marked an important milestone in the partnership between Westminster College Bangkok (WCB) and the University of East Anglia (UEA). The event brought together representatives from both institutions, education partners, and Khun Chutikarn Pleanchote, Senior Market Advisor, Support Services, British Embassy Bangkok, to celebrate the collaboration and learn more about the shared vision of bringing UEA’s final-year study experience to Bangkok.
The event opened with remarks from Professor Steven McGuire, Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice-President, International at the University of East Anglia, who introduced UEA and shared its international outlook. Professor McGuire highlighted UEA’s academic strengths, including the areas represented by the programmes being delivered in Bangkok, and spoke about Thailand’s importance as a destination for international education. He also reflected on UEA’s decision to collaborate with WCB and the shared ambition of both institutions to make high-quality UK university education more accessible to students in Thailand and the wider region.
This was followed by Richard Hallows, College Principal of Westminster College Bangkok, who shared the vision behind bringing the UEA Final Year Programme to Bangkok. He highlighted WCB’s commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and to maintaining the rigorous academic standards expected of a UEA programme. He also reflected on how the partnership supports WCB’s wider mission to provide students with greater access to internationally recognised education and more flexible pathways towards achieving a UK university degree.
A particularly significant moment of the event was the official contract signing ceremony between UEA and WCB, formally marking the partnership and the shared commitment of both institutions to delivering the programme successfully in Bangkok. The ceremony was followed by a group photo and networking session, bringing together representatives from both institutions and their education partners to celebrate the beginning of this exciting new collaboration.
