Background story of student

Born and raised in Myanmar, Lin Lin Oo (Kriti) is a passionate and determined student with a strong interest in media and communications. Inspired by voices that often go unheard, she aspires to become a storyteller for those who need representation, aiming to make a positive impact through her work.

She dreams of starting her own event planning company or social initiative and draws inspiration from real-world changemakers like Candle, who combines business with hands-on charity. Her academic journey recently led her to receive a conditional offer from the University of Manchester—her dream school and home to her favorite football club, Manchester United.

With roots in Nepal through her parents, Lin Lin Oo (Kriti) also hopes to reconnect with her heritage and explore the world through volunteering. Ultimately, her goal is not only to succeed professionally but also to give back to her family by helping her father retire.

Currently studying in Bangkok, she values the welcoming environment and supportive teachers at her foundation programme. As the only student in her cohort pursuing creative arts and communication, she continues to stand out through her purpose-driven path.

What is your dream future career?
My dream is to build a career in media and communications where I can represent underrepresented voices and tell stories that inspire change. I also aspire to start my own fashion-related business that blends creativity with social impact.

What’s behind your dream of opening your own fashion business?
Fashion has always been a form of self-expression for me, but beyond aesthetics, I want to create something meaningful. My dream is to build a fashion brand that not only reflects identity and culture but also supports communities—especially those in need. I envision using part of the profits to fund educational and charity projects, making fashion not just about style, but also purpose.

Why did you choose to come to Westminster College Bangkok

I first heard about the school through Kings in Yangon when I was exploring options for Foundation programmes. They didn’t have the intake I needed, but they recommended the Bangkok campus. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect since it was still quite new, but I took the chance. After arriving, I found a warm, welcoming environment where the teachers truly care and the students support each other. It didn’t take long for me to feel like I belonged. I chose to come here because I wanted a place that not only prepared me academically but also helped me grow personally, and that’s exactly what I found.
